Mert Can Aktas, M.S.
Senior Model-Based Systems Engineer | MBSE Architect | SysML Certified Professional
Mert Can Aktas is a highly experienced systems engineer with a deep expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), SysML, and the full V-Model lifecycle. With over a decade of experience across defense, military vehicles, weapon systems, and the healthcare industry, Mert has played a key role in driving MBSE adoption and optimizing complex system architectures.
Currently serving as a Senior Model-Based Systems Engineer/Architect at Philips in Eindhoven, he leads MBSE framework development, enables digital engineering transformation, and provides expert consultancy on systems modeling. He has successfully developed domain-specific SysML profile extensions, implemented Model-Based Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and trained international teams on MBSE methodologies.
Prior to Philips, Mert was a Senior Lead Systems Engineer at FNSS Savunma Sistemleri, contributing to military vehicle and weapon systems projects. His work spanned from requirements analysis to verification, including behavioral modeling, safety analysis, and standardizing requirement management systems. He also played a key role in bidding activities and mentoring junior engineers.
His expertise extends to electronic warfare systems, having worked as an Expert Systems Engineer and Consultant at STM A.S., where he provided technical consultancy on defense industry projects, developed system-level requirements, and conducted system validation tests.
Mert holds a Master of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from TOBB ETU and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bilkent University. He is an OMG-Certified SysML Professional and has completed specialized training in systems engineering, military vehicle technology, and electronic warfare from institutions like MIT, Georgia Tech, and Project Performance International.
